e-MDs Continues To Shine in AAN Vendor Report
e-MDs once again participated as the American Academy of Neurology Professional Association (AANPA) held its third year of electronic health record (EHR) vendor demonstrations in 2008. This year’s event was held during the AAN Annual Meeting and allowed attendees to observe the head-to-head demonstrations between six vendors and evaluate the products for themselves.
e-MDs Solution Series is an integrated EHR and PRACTICE MANAGEMENT software solution, which includes clinical, financial and document management modules designed to automate medical practice processes and chart management. e-MDs Chart, a module within Solution Series, was the primary focus of the demonstration. Referred to as the “2008 EHR Chart Challenge”, the demo allowed each participating vendor 20 minutes to perform functions included in a script, predetermined and pre-provided to each. Attendees could complete score sheets for their own use, and the EHR Work Group and PM&T members conducted more detailed evaluations of each vendor based on the items from the script. 
While The AANPA does not endorse vendors, and the goal of the report was not to name one vendor to recommend for its members, e-MDs was pleased with its stellar performance in the challenge, as well as the feedback and comments of the panel of reviewers and many attendees.
The AAN Vendor Report referred to e-MDs product as “a robust, user-friendly product with a sophisticated underlying database structure.”
They also wrote that “From reviewer comments, the customization and appearance of the referral note was an outstanding feature of this product. They were also impressed with the decision support features which … do not require additional user input.”
In conclusion stating “along with the rich feature set, e-MDs meets the AANPA standards and is certainly worth consideration for a small neurology practice.”

Attendees of the AAN Annual Meeting, who also observed the vendor challenge, comments on e-MDs included “The product was so superior to the others presented I was tasked with performing an independently verification.”
and “I tested it thoroughly and found that it really was that good, clearly the best product shown at this meeting.”
