In October, Dr. David Winn, CEO and founder of e-MDs, announced the promotion of Dr. Michael Stearns to President of the company. The change comes as e-MDs, in the midst of steady growth, is poised to unveil a new line of products in 2008.

Dr. Stearns arrived at e-MDs on December 1, 2006. He is a board certified neurologist with 15 years of experience in clinical and academic medicine. He is a voting member of the federally sponsored Health Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP), and a member of this body's technical committee addressing population health issues. Dr. Stearns has over 6 years of experience designing and implementing electronic health records for ambulatory practices and he is also a Certified Professional Coder.

"In my short tenure at e-MDs, I have watched the company grow with a pioneering vision and an integrity fueled effort. I am honored, excited, humbled and eager to help guide this innovative team into the future," said Dr. Stearns. "We will change the way health care is practiced, providing physicians and researchers with information that can be used to overcome some of the greatest challenges of medicine."

In a company meeting on October 24, 2007, Dr. Stearns addressed all of the employees at e-MDs' Austin, Texas campus, expanding on his goals that e-MDs remain in front of the cutting-edge EHR technology market while remaining a fun and progressive place to work.

The founder of e-MDs, Dr. David Winn, will remain the CEO and Chairman of the Board. Dr. Winn will continue to play an integral role in the future direction of the company.
